My Grandma's Qinmosi
I was born in south of China where the famous desserts came from. My favorite dessert was my grandma‘s handmade black bean rice paste (called Qinmosi).We always make it at the end of summer every year to celebrate the hot weather finishing soon. It was so interesting to make it. We began to set the food preparation, we actived our hands, then we tasted and shared our recipes.
Usually we started in the afternoon, the curly white short hair with dark purple yellow flowers silk top with black pant was my grandma. She wore bright dark red apron stood in the living room next was green with mini white flower four persons square table set down there to make more space for four persons. My aunt put her own florist apron on, she folded the sleeves upper and waited my grandma’s order. There were four things on the table. The first one was a white bowl with many black bean stuffing chunks ,they made of mixed mashed black bean with white sugar. Second was a big stainless steel bowl with sweet rice, it already soaked early the morning by my grandma. Third was a big long tray, hundreds small white rice chunks lied on it, they made of rice starches .Last one was a basket, inside was many pieces of bamboo leaves, they already cut by my sister in early the morning.
Making the Qinmosi was a skill, so we also needed to work in harmony. Every year this season my grandma and my aunt made at least hundred Qinmosis, so they got nice experience. Each time they took one white chunk on the center of their palm rolled it a second and used the thumb pinched the middle to make enough space to put the black bean stuffing in and covered them made ball shape, and they were put in the sweet rice bowl. Then it was my turned, I rolled them to stick the rice, made them like hedgehogs. Beginning my grandma touch me step by step to make, but I did not got good passion. Last was my sister put a piece of bamboo leaf on each of them, and put them on the food steamer. Grandma checked them made sure they on right way, by the way took them into the big pot to cook! It cost about forty minutes. We saw them all done.
Tasting and sharing the food was nice thing I like to do. Looked them lied on the dish .I just couldn’t wait to bite them. Grandma took the teapot from the kitchen to the living room and put it on the table. Tea was good to match with desert. Everyone sat around the table tasted the Qinmosi with happily smile. Special smile glowed on my grandma‘s face, she was so lovely then.

My Homemade Pork with Green Pepper
I with my friend Lily went to eat the dinner in one of most popular Sichuan restaurant in flushing called Tasty and Spicy. The restaurant has twenty tables in it. It doesn’t have something special decoration on it. It opened over ten years when we started ordering the food the waitress told us. We ordered a few foods: a spicy fish soup, a mapo tofu, and pork with green pepper. The pork green pepper is one of my favorite foods. Actually it made of tenderloin of pork and green cayenne peppers. After the dinner, I was decided to make it at home at that weekend. I researched the recipe on the website. Sometimes I think that it was not that hard to made a food at home; it was more clean; and more health than restaurant.
Pork with Green pepper was not too hard to make. First, I followed the recipe bought the ingredients that I had to use in my food. I bought half pound of tenderloin of pork, half pound of green cayenne peppers. The pork was already cut small slice in the store. So I followed the recipe to put half spoon of Chinese cooking wine, a spoon of soybean source, spread a little bit of white pepper powder, two spoons of sweet potato starch, and a few drops of vegetable oil in the meat. Mix them and brine a few minutes. Then I washed the green peppers, took out the small white seeds inside, sliced them, and spread some salt in them. Second, I put a couple spoons of vegetable in the pan .When the oil got hot, I put a spoon of black bean source to fry it, then I put the brined pork in the pan and fried them until them turned brown. Next I took a spoon of spicy and sweet sour in it, continued to fry them few seconds, and I put green peppers in to fry about thirty seconds. Then I took a white plate out of my cabinet, and move the food to plate.
Compare the taste it was a little bit different to restaurant. I took out chopstick quickly to try my homemade pork with green pepper. It tasted pretty good, and very close to the restaurant .One thing different was the meat didn’t tender enough like restaurant. I thought the restaurant usually like to put meat tenderizer to make the pork tasted softer and better. For sure, it was not healthy to us. The other thing was green pepper looked greener than I cooked. Because the restaurant usually likes to put the vegetable in high temperature oil to fry few seconds, it made them looks good. But high temperature oil would kill the nutrition inside the vegetable.
Compare the other food in the town. Chinese food actually is pretty healthy choice, but compare the restaurant food to the homemade food. The homemade is more worth to eat. We can keep the nutrition from the vegetable and meat. Also, It was so fun to make the food that you like to eat.

Nice Dinner
After read the Omnivore Dilemma, I changed some opinions in my food, especial fast food. I used to eat Mc Donalds twice a month before I read the book. Now if not necessary I do not want to eat it. I got little disappointed about burgers when I knew them were bad for our bodies. Bare burger, it changed my opinion. It was an organic food restaurant. Usually in some restaurants only some food is organic, but bare burger was hundred percent. I and my classmates decided to check what is different between organic burger and processed burger.
It was Friday four thirty pm. We got in the restaurant called Bare Burger. The decoration inside the restaurant is not very fancy, but we could see a lot of detail inside. It was a small restaurant, only could take forty people inside. The first caught my easy was the light hung in the ceiling; it was made of steel soup ladle around the side and inside is some clear and green empty bottles. The walls, tables, and chairs were made of wood, and trees were from storm damaged. On the wall had one greenish bear head sculpture on a mountain shape of wood.
Took a few minutes to decide what I would to eat. I decide to order bison with brioche bun, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, smoked mozzarella cheese, and ketchup with mayo for the sauce. It was took long time to wait the food be ready , maybe it was so busy in the dinner time or maybe we had so many people and order so many food confused them .Finally, my burger came. I looked at it for a couple seconds. It was golden bread on the top, the iceberg lettuce mix with sauce , two slide tomatoes , medium well bison , and a piece of bread on the bottom. I used my knife to cut a small piece of bison to eat. It was different than normal beef. It was hard to say how difference was, but I could say it tasted like I eat cow. Then I started to eat the whole burger. Everything was so good. I think I will go back one day.

In the materially developed country, a lot of rich people have stresses, unhappiness, and less satisfied in their lives. Even they can use the money to easy get some fancy stuff; the goods cannot help them get happy all the time. Compare to some of least developed country, the people working hard to get what they urge long time. That makes them happy truly. Rich doesn’t mean can get happiness easily.
Money ruins the life. There is a matter my girlfriend tells me about a boy she knows in her college. The boy comes to the United States for studying. His parents are very rich. He used his parents’ money to whole pay his fancy car. His parents want him to be comfortable and convenient for his study. He doesn’t appreciate for his entire have. He dates with many girls all the time; Paly the games at home instead of study in the school; he pays money for some students to help him do his homework. He rides his car over speed in highway, and gets bad accident. He lost his one leg in that accident. The parents regret for giving so much money to their son , and ruin their only son.
The result makes happiness after spend a lot of time to work. John’ success is not lucky, it include a lot of hard work behind him. At five years ago, he just came to this country. He didn’t speak English at the begin. The first year he worked at a Chinese restaurant. One day he thought he couldn’t stay in the kitchen in his life. He decided to study English. He worked at daytime, and he study English at night. He tried to speak English when he got chance as him could. Now he speaks very good English and he opens his own business. He is smiling when he tells his story to his friend. He says:” I know how difficult I make it that is how much I proud to myself.”
